Hamariweb’s Rise to become the largest Urdu Content Site
The CEO and Founder of Hamariweb.com, Abrar Ahmed, started his entrepreneurial journey in 2001 while Pakistan’s online industry was still in its infancy.
After a stint at a technical marketing firm, Abrar Ahmed joined an e-commerce startup called Herbsmd.com and helped it reach US$3 million in sales. In 2006, Abrar laid the foundations of Webiz Media and Hamariweb.com. Today, Hamariweb is proving itself to be the leading web portal in the country with a user base of 12 million and 18 million visits every month. The website is ranked amongst the top 1,300 websites of the world, and also features on the list of the top 20 Pakistani sites, according to Alexa Rank. The company was also ranked on the list of the ‘Top 100 Fast Growth Companies of Pakistan’ in 2012.
After managing info-portals, Abrar and his team has ventured into online retail also. In late 2015, he and his team launched ShopRex.com, an online store that delivered 35,000 consignments in its first year.
