When Khurram Samad’s first startup did not pan out as planned, Khurram decided to build android games. He was first time lucky and hit the gaming jackpot with Gang Wars. Since the, the GenITeam has grown to become a fast growing game development company in Pakistan and has expanded its footprint to the US through his venture Tapinator

Khurram Samad’s potential was unmistakable from the very first time I had met him. Therefore, when he could not make the shortlist for MITEFP-BAP at first, for the reason that his firm was generating less than US$ 100,000 in annual revenue, I had to do something. For the first and the last time in eight years, I waived that precondition for entry. His technical skills, business plan and hard work were fantastic, but what really impressed me were his human skills and humility, which he maintains despite the success he has achieved in the past six years. Today, he has gone global and is running two successful ventures: GenITeam from Lahore–a BPO and software firm–and Tapinator, a mobile game development firm based in New York. Both firms have a combined valuation of US$ 30 million.
Khurram’s Story:
Khurram Samad comes from a family of air force pilots. He dreamt of becoming one in the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) just like his father. However, an injury crushed his air force dreams and spurred him on to create a new identity for himself.
Khurram enrolled in an MBA program. In his second year, he laid the foundation of GenITeam, a mobile app and game development company based in Pakistan that would develop games for the iOS, Google Play and Amazon platforms.
With Khurram as its CEO, GenITeam has gone on to become an award-winning game development company that has also been rated amongst the Top 100 Asian Companies by Red Herring 2012. He is also the CTO and co-founder of Tapinator, a global game development company listed on the New York OTC Stock Exchange. The total valuation of GenITeam and Tapinator is US$30 million. The company has development teams in Germany, Pakistan, Indonesia, Canada and the United States.
As of mid-October 2016, his company, Tapinator has publicly declared the following in its quarterly disclosures:
324 million cumulative player downloads, up by 141 percent from last year
272 active games as of September 30, 2016
81 games that have each achieved over one million player downloads
21.5 million average monthly active users (MAU) during the quarter
1.2 million average daily active users (DAU) during the quarter
626,000 average daily downloads across the network
